Joe Root scored 153 runs as England took a strong foothold in the second Test vs New Zealand.

He was unbeaten during the innings, stitching a strong partnership of 302 runs with Harry Brook.

In doing so, Root is now joint third on the list for the most unbeaten 150s in Test history.

The player on top of this list is Australia's Steve Waugh, with seven to his name.

India's Sachin Tendulkar is second, with six unbeaten 150s to his name.

Joe Root is the only active player to make it so high on this list, with this being his fifth on this list.

Apart from Root, Kumar Sangakkara, Jacques Kallis and Javed Miandad, all have five unbeaten 150s to their name.

His important innings, coupled with James Anderson's bowling, put England in a safe position in the second Test.
