FAB 4's track record in Tests' 4th innings

Joe Root exploits went in vain as England lost the Ashes Test series opener to Australia on Tuesday (June 21).

Root scored an unbeaten 118 in the first innings and followed it up with another 46 in the second but couldn't save England from going down to Australia by two wickets.

Riding on his batting exploits, Root also became the new no.1 in the latest ICC's batting rankings.

New Zealand's Kane Williamson has recorded a Test batting average of 55.3 in the fourth innings.

India's Virat Kohli has recorded a Test batting average of 47.2 in the fourth innings.

England's Joe Root has recorded a Test batting average of 43.1 in the fourth innings.

Australia's Steve Smith has recorded a lowly Test batting average of 28.4 in the fourth innings.
