Messi's Argentina will now face Poland with a Round of 16 birth on the line.

Heading into the game, Messi has three major accolades that he can secure.

It will be Messi's 999th career game when he steps out on the pitch to face Poland.

Messi will feature in his 22nd World Cup game. Diego Maradona played 21 World Cup matches for Argentina.

If Messi scores two goals, he will equal Gabriel Batistuta’s record for the most goals for Argentina in World Cups.
