African nation Senegal beat Ecuador 2-1 to fight their way to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup.

After Ismaila Sarr opened the lead from the spot, Ecuador came back into the game with a goal from Moises Caicedo.

Then their skipper Kalidou Koulibaly came to the fore, scoring what turned out to be the winner in the 70th minute.

It was a memorable victory, especially for current head coach and former captain Aliou Cisse.

During the 2002 World Cup, Cisse was the 1st Captain to lead Senegal to the World Cup quarterfinals.

Then, in February 2022, he became the 1st Coach to win the AFCON title with Senegal.

And now, he has led Senegal to their 2nd FIFA World Cup Knockouts after 20 years.

At the World Cup, all of Senegal's 5 goals were scored by different players.
